A number of technologies in the bioprocessing space are reaching a level of maturity that it is now increasingly feasible to move from Batch to continuous process for Bio-pharmaceuticals (specifically mAb production). What are those advances, and what issues does the industry still need to overcome.

 Bio: Chemical Engineer from UCD (1995), MBA UL (2003).  Professional experience at MSD from 1995 to present.  Began career at the Ballydine site in manufacturing operations and then Global Technology Operations, primarily supporting new product introductions. 

I moved to MSD Manufacturing Division (MMD) IT and worked 11 years (from 1999 until 2010) at the Ballydine plant in roles of increasing responsibility ultimately becoming the Site IT lead in 2008. In 2010, while continuing in the site IT lead role, he added responsibilities as MMD IT Project Management Organization for the EMEA / AP region. In 2011 he took on a role, primarily supporting the Global Science Technology and Commercialisation group within MMD as well as having responsibility for Content Management systems within the division.
