I would like to invite you to the JUBILEE meeting of PhD students and postdocs! PhD_post.doc club celebrates its first birthday!
As usual, we will meet on the first Thursday in the month on 5th March from 4:00 PM in the UHELNA!
Uhelna is situated in the building A: ground floor under the main stairs opposite the courtyard. Arrows will direct you 😊.
For those who haven’t heard about PhD_Post.doc club yet:
We are organizing regular meetings of PhD students and postdocs, where we have a great opportunity to get to know each other and learn from our colleagues who we normally do not have a chance to meet or we meet them every day on the corridor but don’t know anything about them. PhD_Post.doc club always takes place on the first Thursday every month. The meeting is divided into two parts. First, three chaired lectures from our colleagues (in English), then free refreshment and time for a meet-and-greet.
Come to learn new things, discuss, get refreshed and meet people!

1) Martin Pižl (PhD student from Dept. of Inorganic Chemistry, FCT – Laborytory of Coordination Chemistry (Irena Hoskovcová); Dept. of Biophysical Chemistry, J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry, Czech Academy of Sciences)
Vibrational spectroscopy of coordination compounds: An anharmonic approach
What is origin of observed bands? Can we identify the coupling between vibrations? Can we compute precisely energy of bands? How can we include the anharmonic effects in the study of excited states?
2) Marek Šoltys (PhD student from Dept. of Chemical Engineering, FCI – Laboratory of Chemical Robotics (František Štěpánek))
Mesoporous silica micro- and nano-particles in pharmaceutical formulations
Novel excipients to formulate poorly soluble drugs for oral delivery. Why silica? How to load drugs inside it? Does it actually work?
3) Invited speaker: Kamila Zdeňková (Assistant professor in the Laboratory of Food Microbiology, research specialist in GMO)
Are you afraid of genes? Facts about Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)
The presentation will be focus on the definition of GMO; examples of GM microorganisms, plants and animals; growing GMOs in the world; approved applications in the EU; labeling of GMOs (EU, world); GMO FREE label.
