Mindfulness is the ability to intentionally pay attention to what is happening in the present moment, without unnecessary evaluation, judgment, or expectations. During this workshop, we’ll explore the origins of mindfulness, how it’s used today in mental health care, and what current studies tell us about its benefits.
The main part of the workshop will be hands-on. We’ll try out a few simple exercises and demonstrate how mindfulness can be applied in everyday life, while studying, or in situations when we simply have too much on our plates.
Mindfulness can help us better manage stress and challenging situations, focus and learn more effectively, and build better relationships with ourselves and others. It can therefore be useful in our studies, at work, and in our relationships—in short, wherever it’s easy to go on “autopilot.”
